- It provides the comfort of a house on board. Since the areas are bigger, during cruising it is easier and safer to go around the boat.
- When compared to a monohull sail boat of the same size catamarans are faster and safer.
- Catamarans can go into shallower waters.
- Since catamarans don’t tilt during sailing it is easier to eat, cook and do other activities while sailing. There are more safe spaces for children.
- Having two engines increases safety in case of any engine or propeller malfunction, and increases maneuverability in marinas and bays. It can rotate 360 degrees in nearly the same amount of space that the boat covers.
- Having cabins in different hulls far from each other decreases the noise transfer between cabins, increasing comfort and privacy.
- There are more living areas not just the aft cockpit like in monohul sailing boats. In longer cruises, since there are various open living spaces everybody on board can find an area if they want to be alone.
- The saloon area is not accessed by stairs. There is a 360 degrees panoramic view while cooking.
- Catamarans can carry bigger dingys increasing alternative anchoring spots and allowing for a safer and faster transport between the boat and land.
- During sailing it is much safer and seaworthy then a motoryacht twice its size. Catamarans can cruise to places that bigger motoryachts can not go to comfortably. There are hundreds of catamarans who have sailed around the world.
- Since they have smaller engines there is less fuel consumption and engine services are cheaper.
- Due to the triangle rope that is utilized during anchoring the boat is more stable. In marinas and on anchor, multihulls sway less and are more stable then motoryachts and monohull sail boats.
- There is no risk of capsizing the boat when the keel is broken. Many new generation catamarans are unsinkable.
- There are many storage spaces. There are bigger and more accessible spaces for refrigerators, generators, AC’s and watermakers.
- Since catamarans are highly demanded they loose less value during second hand sales. Their second hand prices are high.
